Mack Family Cake Smash-San Antonio Family Photographer
I’ve been wanting to photograph a cake smash since, well, pretty much since my daughter had hers 5 years ago! I remember picking out every detail, her outfit matched the icing, the icing matched the theme of her birthday party the next week. Those all matched the invites that I scoured Etsy for during my free time (which in hindsight I had a lot of with just one crazy kid to take care of)!
When Chelsey told me Norah was turning one I was so excited that they decided to let me capture the event for them. I’ve been an IG follower or @chelsey.mack for awhile and I knew sweet Norah would come prepared and decked out in cuteness! And that her and her hubby Nate would look adorable too! She surely didn’t disappoint!
Meet, Norah, big bows, bloomers and a side of sass!
This cake. OMG. It was kinda hard for me to deal with the fact that it was about to be destroyed. It’s prettier than my wedding cake. Not kidding! This cake was made by a local baker @thewhitekittenbakes. Chelsey and Nate said it tasted good-Norah was non committal, but didn’t complain!
Chelsey and I met for coffee to discuss the shoot and go over our plan. We knew we had a limited attention span to contend with so we wanted to be super prepared. I asked her if there was anything in particular that she really wanted me to capture.
“All the details. Her little hands. Things like that.”
I don’t know if she knew or guessed it, but those are my ABSOLUTE favorite things to capture. I love those little details, and as a mom, I get it. Those hands and toes are only so small once. (Insert sobbing here! It goes TOO fast)
This here is the trifecta! Bow, bib, bloomers, and see that little bit of sass?!
The light, her hair, the snuggles! I just can’t guys, it’s too pretty! Mommy and daughter moments are so sweet. So much of motherhood is hard, but this, makes it totally worth it.
Have you heard of a “splash” after the cake smash! I think it might be a Texas thing. I mentioned it to Chelsey and she was game to let Norah try! I’m sooo glad she did because these are seriously adorable. Totally worth transporting hot water in the back of my car to make sure sweet girl didn’t have to take a cold bath!
So, so, fun! Thank you, Mack family for letting me photograph this for you and spend time with your sweet family.
